Our History

Janstar Builders, Inc., primarily a commercial construction company, has been involved in construction since 1994 in Albuquerque, NM and we have over 30 years of experience in the Southwest market. Over the last fifteen years, we have built over 35 commercial buildings and tenant improvements, 61 affordable homes for the Greater Albuquerque Housing Partnership, and 13 custom homes for 13 individual clients.  Janstar Builders, Inc. has been a member of the HBACNM since the company’s start in 1994.  Al Jansen, the owner of Janstar Builders is a 4th generation builder, whose family roots stretch back to building the beginnings of Minnesota before it even became a state, starting in 1854. With this background, we have strong experience in addressing construction projects and issues. We are licensed, bonded, insured, and committed to bringing you the quality and integrity you expect from a long-established builder. 

Our current in-house staff includes 8 people for accounting, estimating, and project management with combined experience totaling over 150 years.  Most of our subcontractors have been working with us over a decade.  Our individual project managers and superintendents average over 30 years experience each.  Al Jansen, the owner and principal in our firm obtained his B.S. in Construction Administration from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, 1979.
